Put on your dancing shoes and get your gladrags on – The Printworks is gearing up for its 11th annual Vintage Swing Festival on Sunday 20th April.

The event will be hosted by swing music and dance event company, Katz Korner, and visitors to The Printworks on Easter Sunday will be treated to live music, dance, vintage cars and market stalls offering vintage clothing and crafts, from 12pm in The Pumpyard.

Live music on the day comes courtesy of The Hicksville Bombers, a rockabilly trio from Lincoln, who will be playing blues, country and rock’n’roll in an energetic 50s style.

Visitors will also be treated to the unique vocals of rockabilly singer / songwriter, Donna Dunne, who will be bringing her high-energy performance to the entertainment complex. Often billed as the next Imelda May, Donna is the most exciting artist on the Irish music scene today.

There will also be swing DJ sets throughout the day, from Kat in Da Hat, Poor Boy Paul and Sideburn Steve, to get feet moving, plus live Swing and Jive dancing and demonstrations from The Backstep Boogie Club.

Vintage vehicles on display will include a 1962 Ford Zodiac, Ford Zephyr, an Oldsmobile Rocket 88, two Ford Consuls, a Chevvy Pick Up truck and a Ford Pick Up.

There’s something for the kids too, with an Easter egg hunt to be held on the day, and with craft tables, fancy dress and market stalls selling classic 50s fare in the form of cakes, sweets and drinks, the event will offer something for everyone.

Fred Booth, Centre Director said:

“Our annual Vintage Swing event is always incredibly popular, with over 5,000 people coming from across the region to attend in 2013. It’s a fantastic opportunity for visitors to enjoy a touch of nostalgia and get a taste of the 50’s in the heart of Manchester. We look forward to welcoming all lovers of vintage on April 20th.”
