The ride, which takes place on Saturday, June 25, sets off from Chester Rugby Club before weaving through the spectacular local countryside. Bike Chester allows riders to select from 25, 50 and 80 mile routes meaning cyclists of all ages and abilities are catered for with sports clubs, families school, charities and individuals all taking part. Teams from local businesses, schools and charities can get involved in various ways, creating a diverse participant list.

This year, rider numbers will be capped at 500 to create an inclusive feel to the event and participants will be provided with a timing chip for their ride and a relaxing post-ride atmosphere with food and drinks available at the event village at Chester Rugby Club.

Bike Chester claims it will be ‘more than just a bike ride’ being part of a growing series of great cycling events including ‘Bike Oxford’ and ‘Bike Bath’, which have proved very popular attracting over 1000 riders – the event will engage local businesses and food producers. There are numerous opportunities for any businesses that is interested in becoming event partners to get in touch with the organisers.

Jayne Fishwick, Event Controller said: “We’ve seen our other events grow over the years and we’re keen to extend the friendly atmosphere that our events are renowned for to new areas. Bike Chester offers us a great opportunity to get ever more riders out on the roads, enjoying themselves, as well as offering benefits to local businesses by attracting people from far afield. We’re delighted to be working with Chester Rugby Club and a contribution from every rider’s entry fee will be made to Sale Sharks Community Trust and the Chester Rugby Club. We are looking forward to what we hope is our first year of many in Chester.”

Peter Craven, Bike Chester Marketing Coordinator and local resident added: “This has the potential to be another great local sporting event and I am sure ‘Bike Chester’ will quickly prove to become an established date in the Chester calendar. We have great facilities at the rugby club to set off the event and we are planning some spectacular routes out into Cheshire and beyond.”

The event will follow the Cheshire Pedalthon, on Friday, June 24, which is a one day cycling event attracting teams of riders from the business community.  The Cheshire Pedalthon, also organised by the team from Iconic Cycling Events, aims to raise £10,000 for Sale Sharks Community Trust.
