A popular night of sixties music and entertainment returns to the garden theatre at Gawsworth Hall, near Macclesfield on Saturday July 9, in aid of Francis House Children’s Hospice.
Concert goers can enjoy a two-hour live extravaganza packed with all the greatest songs from music’s most memorable decade.
Over thirty five toe-tapping hit singles from the swinging sixties, will be performed by a multi-instrumental eight-piece 60s band featuring great harmonies and authentic musical arrangements.
The multi-talented cast of professional musicians, singers and dancers will take the audience on a roller coaster ride of hits from The Beach Boys to Cilla Black, The Monkees to Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross to Little Eva.
Judy Bailey, events organiser for Francis House said: “As a Gawsworth resident I’ve been to many of the summer concerts at Gawsworth Hall and I thought wouldn’t it be fantastic to hold a concert there for Francis House. The theatre setting is beautiful and the Hall as a backdrop lit up at night is a super venue for a summers evening concert.”
The grounds are open from 2 pm for anyone wanting to have a picnic in the Hall garden before the concert starts at 7.30 pm.
The ‘Hold Tight its 60s Night’ will be Judy’s final fundraising event for the children’s hospice that she has supported for more than twenty years.
Since 1994, Judy helped by her family, friends and volunteers, has organised numerous summer concerts at Arley Hall and in later years the successful Tatton Park Picnic Concerts with involvement from Francis House. Judy is hoping the party night theme will prove a hit with the crowds.
“My aim was then as it still is now, for people to have an enjoyable evening of entertainment and at the same time raise money for our wonderful local children and young adults hospice. We’re hoping this year will be a big success,” said Judy.
David Ireland, chief executive at Francis House said: “Judy’s hard work and devotion to Francis House has been an important part in both our fundraising strategy and in raising the profile of the hospice throughout the North West,
“Judy, her team of ladies and the Francis House fundraisers have put on the most impressive and enjoyable Christmas Balls and Picnic Concerts and have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years. We are sad that she is retiring but can’t thank her enough for her years of hard work and dedication.”
All proceeds will go to Francis House which cares for over 370 sick children, teenagers and young adults with a short life expectancy either in the hospice or at home, as well as providing support, friendship and short breaks of respite care for the whole family.
