Girls Out Loud invites best of the North West to first ever Shining Stars Ball

"We want as many companies from the North West as possible to join us for what will be an amazing evening of celebration and fun!"
Jane Kenyon, founder of Girls Out Loud

Multi-award winning social enterprise, Girls Out Loud will host its first Shining Stars Ball on Friday 29th September at The Hilton Hotel in Manchester. Money raised from the black-tie fundraiser will support Girls Out Loud’s intervention programmes, which have seen the organisation impact the lives of more than 5,000 teenage girls in 35 schools.

The event will also celebrate and share stories from some of the amazing people who have worked with Girls Out Loud including corporate sponsors, advocates, ambassadors, schools, mentors and most importantly the teenage girls themselves.

Sponsors for the event include Co-op, Accenture, Pladis Global, Kids Allowed and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, with prizes donated by companies from across the North West. The event will be compered by BBC Radio 5 Live’s Sam Walker, with music from DJ Hattie Pearson.

“We want as many companies from the North West as possible to join us for what will be an amazing evening of celebration and fun!”, says Jane Kenyon, founder of Girls Out Loud. “Of the worst 10 places to grow up a girl, 7 of the bottom 10 are in the North – including Manchester, Salford and Liverpool. This just isn’t good enough and the responsibility lies with all of us to do something about it.

“We want to invest in teenage girls and empower them to learn, lead and thrive. These are our sisters, our daughters, our nieces and our future employees so let’s show them how much we believe in them.”

“I’m thrilled that the Co-op is sponsoring the first Shining Stars Ball,” adds Jo Whitfield, CEO of Co-op Food. “Our business is built on principles of education, pioneering spirit and equality, so supporting Girls Out Loud and the Shining Stars Ball, designed to celebrate these very things, felt like a natural thing to do.

“Helping girls find their unique voice, creating an empowering mindset and developing role models for the future is so important. The work that Girls Out Loud does makes a real difference to the lives of girls across the UK, particularly here in the North West. I’m proud to be an ambassador for such a great organisation and am delighted that the Co-op is supporting this fantastic event.”

Tables and additional sponsorship opportunities are now available for the Shining Stars Ball, details of which can be found here. The team are also looking for raffle and silent auction prizes and would welcome donations from local businesses.
