DASA Pledges To Help Flush Away Poverty

"We are delighted to be supporting toilet twinning and look forward to hearing more about how our toilet block in Uganda is working and supporting the local people."
Darryl Gartley

DASA has joined forces with the international charity – Toilet Twinning.

DASA based in Hazel Grove provides drainage and leak detection services to the insurance industry.  It has sponsored a toilet block at a school in Uganda.

Toilet Twinning aims to flush away poverty, funding the work of international relief and development agency Tearfund, providing clean water, basic sanitation, and hygiene education to prevent the spread of disease and give people more ability to earn a living, men and women discover the potential that lies within them to bring transformation.

One in three people worldwide don’t have access to somewhere safe, private or hygienic to go to the toilet.  The human and economic impact of this is enormous. Every minute a child dies from diarrhoeal diseases and 60% of all rural diseases are caused by poor hygiene and sanitation.

Managing director Darryl Gartley explains: “We work with insurance companies across the country dealing with water leak and drainage issues.  In the UK, we take it for granted that our toilets will flush and that we will always have access to clean water, the issues only come when our systems have a fault and, in those situations companies like ourselves will fix this very quickly.”

Continued Darryl: “We are delighted to be supporting toilet twinning and look forward to hearing more about how our toilet block in Uganda is working and supporting the local people”.
