Thanks to the Aurora Stockport team, a local community group, Step Ahead, is to receive handmade planters made for them by the nearby Stockport Community Shed group.
The Community Shed has been working hard making large wooden planters for local Muslim group Step Ahead, with materials provided by North West based builder and developer, Seddon.
The work has taken place thanks to Seddon, who are currently constructing Stockport Council’s new industrial park, Aurora Stockport, bringing the two community groups together.
Stockport Community Shed is a group of people who enjoy DIY and meet with other members, helping to combat social isolation and increase well-being, over their shared interest. Supported by Stockport Homes, they are a non-profit organisation which helps local community members build confidence through fun activities.
Shareen Shazad from Step Ahead Community Group, said: “Everyone at Step Ahead would like to take this opportunity to thank Seddon and the Stockport Shed group for helping us with our gardening project by supplying the wooden planters. It means that our members now have the opportunity to grow flowers, vegetables and fruit, helping to introduce children to the outdoor world as well as promoting healthy eating. It will also help to improve their confidence as well as teaching them new skills.

Aurora Stockport is transforming an area of Stockport into a vibrant employment area. As this work on the Council’s development continues, it will ensure priority that the community and residents benefit from the work taking place.
Seddon is also working with Stockport Homes on a number of other initiatives to support community groups in the area.
