Creamline's Charlie Thomas Wins National Milkman Of The Year Title

"Charlie has won over all the customers with his punctuality, sunny smile and attention to detail."
Mick Chambers, Depot Manager

Creamline milkman Charlie Thomas is proving himself to be the crème de la crème, winning the highly competitive Milkman of the Year title, in the annual Dairy UK awards.

Charlie, 24, from Sale, is a relatively new face on the Creamline rounds, working from Creamline’s Trafford Park headquarters since 2015, where he started his rounds to households across the area, soon becoming a firm favourite thanks to his positive can-do attitude.

Creamline’s Trafford depot manager, Mick Chambers, who nominated Charlie, said: ‘’Charlie has really hit the ground running since joining the Creamline team last year. Always with a smile on his face, he had a tough act to follow after replacing a milkman who had done the rounds for over 40 years – but Charlie has won over all the customers with his punctuality, sunny smile and attention to detail.

“As well as carrying out his milk round, Charlie has really embraced Creamline’s online ordering service and its latest offering - a fruit and veg service, freshly picked from the market and delivered straight to your door. From talking customers through the new service, to making sure it is delivered on time, he’s gone the extra mile. It’s great to see him win the title.”

Delighted to have won the national title, Charlie said: ‘’As a son of a milkman, doing the morning rounds feels like second nature to me and it’s great to see that people think I’m doing a good job – I can’t believe I won the national title! There’s no other job like it. I know my area like the back of my hand now and It’s always good to see familiar faces on my route, as well as helping support the local farmers. When I replaced George, who had been doing the Creamline rounds for 40 years, I knew I had to maintain his excellent customer service, so I’m really happy to see my customers are still happy – it makes all those early mornings worth it.”

Dr Judith Bryans, Chief Executive of Dairy UK, said: “Charlie is what doorstep delivery is all about. His customers are his friends and he always goes that extra mile to provide them with great products and service. He relishes the community spirit and provides trustworthy doorstep delivery service that many of our customers, especially the housebound, rely on.”
