Legal administrator in charity boxing match

An office coordinator from Manchester has announced she is set to take part in a charity white collar fighter boxing match on Saturday 4 February in aid of a local cancer hospice.

"Im proud to be supporting St Anns Hospice in an effort to repay what they did for my family."
Emma Ramsden

Emma Ramsden, from Manchester-based law firm Clarke Willmott LLP, will go up against her opponent, Sarah Chapman in the ring at Bowlers Exhibition Centre after several months of training.

Emma has been training twice a week since November last year for the fight, under the tutelage of coaches Tony Mousah (coach to UFC fighter Brendan Loughnane) and former boxer Steve Feeney.

The fight will be in aid of St Ann’s Hospice, the largest cancer hospice in Greater Manchester, which cared for Emma’s father-in-law when he was being treated for cancer. The hospice cares for around 3,000 patients, their families and carers every year who are affected by cancer and other life-limiting diseases.

Emma said: “I’m proud to be supporting St Ann’s Hospice in an effort to repay what they did for my family.

“My father in law, Phil, passed away there in July 2014 after a year-long battle with cancer. Every single staff member is phenomenal and I have the utmost respect for the work they do; I have no idea how they manage to do their job. They rarely get to see their patients get better and go home.

“They did their best to do everything they could for Phil and, despite being very ill, we never felt that they gave up on him. The care and dignity provided at St Ann’s is second to none, I will be forever grateful their services were available to us.”

On her preparation for fight night, Emma continued: “Those that know me know that I’m a bit soft and that I’ve never taken or thrown a punch in my life.

“I believe that raising money for charity should be a challenge and White Collar Fighter will push me to my limit physically and mentally, and will put me completely outside of my comfort zone!”
