Public invited to vote for their favourite Chester city centre businesses

Cestrians and city visitors are being invited to vote for their favourite Chester city centre shops as part of an annual awards event coordinated by CH1ChesterBID.

Following the success of the inaugural awards in 2015, the city’s Business Improvement District (BID) company has now launched the ‘2016 CH1ChesterBID Customer Service Awards’ and is looking for winners across 11 different categories.

In a change to last year’s format, the general public are being asked to nominate the stores they believe provide fantastic customer service by completing a short online survey, which can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CH1BIDCSA2016

Following the public vote, three businesses from each category will go through to a second round where independent retail experts will conduct mystery shopping visits. The overall winners will be revealed at a special awards ceremony in October.

“The CH1ChesterBID Customer Service Awards are back and this year they are bigger and better than ever,” said Julie Charlton, Marketing Manager at CH1ChesterBID.

“More than 100 stores put themselves forward for our inaugural event in 2015, but with the addition of the public vote this year, more than 500 different city centre shops, bars, restaurants and businesses are automatically in the running for a top customer service excellence award and the deserved recognition that comes with it.”

The number of categories in this year’s CH1ChesterBID Customer Service Awards has increased from six to eleven. They are: Coffee Shops; Food on the Go; Grosvenor Shopping Centre; Health & Beauty; Independent Retailer; Large Retailer; Leisure and Lifestyle; Professional Services; Pubs, Bars and Clubs; Restaurants, and Small Retailer.

“We want to reward those city centre shops, restaurants and bars that consistently go the extra mile when it comes to looking after their customers,” added Julie.

“Good customer service is so important because it makes an enormous contribution to the overall city centre experience, leaving visitors with positive and lasting memories that encourage them to visit again. That’s why we really want local residents and city visitors to get involved this year and help us recognise the best of the best in Chester city centre.”

Everyone that completes the survey will also be entered into a special prize draw for the chance to win £250 in high street vouchers to spend in Chester.
