Show home to open at £9m retirement living scheme in Keswick

""

Your Derwent & Solway, part of Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, will open a show home later this month at its Greta Gardens retirement living development on Crow Park Road in Keswick, Cumbria.

The £9m four storey development, for local people 55 and over, is due to be handed over in March and open in May.  It is conveniently located close to Keswick town centre and will incorporate on-site amenities including a café and hairdressers and beauty salon which will be open to the public.

In total there are 69 one and two bedroom ‘extra care’ apartments, including 34 for affordable rent, 18 for shared ownership and 17 for outright sale ranging from 820 sq ft for a two bedroom and 640 sq ft for a one bedroom.

The spacious two bedroom show apartment is located on the lower ground floor and has been designed to allow local people to experience what apartment retirement living at Greta Gardens could be like.  Visitors will be able to see the high standard of fixtures and fittings and interior decoration and view the modern kitchen complete with over, hob and extractor, stylish wet room and spacious living space, making it easy for residents to keep their existing furniture when they downsize.

Local resident, Hilary Baslington, aged 76, from Thornthwaite near Keswick, who has reserved a two bedroom apartment at Greta Gardens said: “I’ve looked around but not found another location as good as this. It’s close to Booths supermarket and the park which is really convenient.  I have a lot of friends in Keswick so I’m looking forward to seeing them more often when I move in.”

Claire Henning, Group Sales Manager said:  “This is a bespoke development of high quality homes for local people aged 55 and over, in a lovely location close to all the amenities Keswick has to offer.  We’re offering a mix of properties for affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale so there is something to suit every pocket. Residents will enjoy the comfort, sense of community and a tailored care and support package as their needs change. This accommodation allows people to plan for the future, live independently for longer and have a happy, safe and secure retirement.  We look forward to welcoming people to view our stylish show home, so they can see for themselves what living at Greta Gardens could be like.”

The architects for this scheme are Lancashire-based Croft Goode Architects and the contractor is Cumbria-based Thomas Armstrong Construction.
Funding for Greta Gardens includes £1,075,000 from the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) and forms part of Your Housing Group’s affordable homes programme.
