Backed by investor, Blenheim Chalcot, the UK’s leading venture builder with sales of over £300 million and a track record of over 40 successful companies, the newly refurbished two-storey space will offer flexible co-working facilities for ‘scale ups’ and growth businesses in Manchester – those organisations looking to grow and expand revenues, employees, market share and public profile.

Following a £6m investment in an extensive refurbishment and redesign of the listed building on the corner of Princess and Portland Street, Accelerate Places will provide 180 desk spaces over two floors, with a members only private café, communal area, tech-enabled meeting rooms and breakout areas.

Housed within a former textile mill, the space keeps a lot of the original features of the building with a contemporary industrial chic interior design, including unique features such as private phone booths within former lift shafts, to encourage innovation and creativity.

Accelerate Places will offer business mentoring support for SMEs to learn and grow with experts from Blenheim Chalcot available to offer advice on accounting, tax, legal, finance, HR and will host networking and learning events to bring the co-working community together.

The new site is scheduled to open early April and will welcome scale ups from fintech, creative, digital and design and technology development companies.

Lisa Murgatroyd, Community Manager from Accelerate Places says: “Manchester has a thriving small business community and we’re hoping to attract those companies who are in their second or third year of operation, with anything upwards of four employees and ambitious growth plans.

“Our location is ideal as we are positioned close to Manchester Piccadilly and key transport links, yet easy walking distance from Spinningfields, Deansgate, Oxford Road, Ancoats and the Northern Quarter.”

“We’ll be creating a collaborative community of innovative scale ups and growth companies who will all have access to support from Blenheim Chalcot. We believe that the environment and surroundings, as well as business connections, play a crucial role in the success of a business and we’re providing ready made business networks and funding opportunities for businesses looking to grow with us.”
