Kuits announce the hires of two new department heads

""

Manchester law firm Kuits Solicitors is delighted to announce the hires of two new department heads.  Kevin McKenna and Katie McCann join the Firm to head up the Employment and Family departments respectively.

Kevin McKenna, who joins as a Partner from Weightmans, advises on all aspects of employment law, with a particular focus on senior executive terminations, constructive and unfair dismissal claims, discrimination and large scale redundancy.  Kevin will take over as Head of Employment from Sally Bird to allow her to focus on developing new and existing client relationships, and continue to provide high level advice and maintaining quality service.  The strengthening of the team comes about following an increase in demand for high level advice over the last 12 months.

Another change in the team sees the appointment of Associate, Mark McKeating who joins from Hill Dickinson.  However, Senior Associate Liz Heap departing to take up a judicial appointment as a full time Employment Tribunal Judge.  Liz was a part time Tribunal Judge when she joined the Firm back in 2011 and has taken the opportunity to focus solely in this area.

Katie McCann was previously a solicitor until 2009 when she transferred to the Bar and became a barrister at Atlantic Chambers in Liverpool, specialising in all aspects of family and matrimonial law. Prior to joining Kuits, Katie had developed a thriving practice in “direct access” work, where the public could instruct her directly as a barrister as opposed to instructing a solicitor first.  Katie joins Kuits as in house counsel and Head of the Family Department.

The latest announcement follows the Firm’s recent promotions of Alison Kellett, Meave O’Neill and David Moroney to Associates.

Executive Partner, Robert Levy said:
“We consider it a great coup that we have been able to attract lawyers of Kevin’s and Katie’s calibre to the Firm.  Our reputation is built on the expertise, commerciality and personality of our people and our long term growth plan dictates that we attract these people into the Firm whenever we can”.

Finally, Kuits has maintained its Law Society Lexcel version5 accreditation following a full re-assessment.
