Debbie Edge of Edge & Son Butchers, based in New Ferry on the Wirral and Delifonseca Dockside at Brunswick Quay, Liverpool, has started the mammoth journey alongside best friend Suzy Cramb from Land’s End to John O’Groats and will peddle their way on a tandem bike to their fundraising total until June 19th.
The team at Delifonseca Dockside are now encouraging customers to show their support by not only putting their hands in their pockets but by also getting on their bike too - right in the middle of the award-winning food hall; in order to match the womens’ journey mile-for-mile.
Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said: “We’re all so proud of Debbie here at Delifonseca and we want to show her how much we support what she’s doing and the cause. It’s such a long distance to travel and we know how much hard work it will be so what better way to enhance her efforts than by bringing a bike into the deli and doing the same thing here?
“We’re encouraging our customers to join in with the fun by setting up time challenges where they can win prizes. What’s more, we’ll also be donating 10p for every mile cycled right here at Delifonseca.”
If customers cycle two miles in less than seven minutes or five miles in any time, they will win a free tea or coffee and if they cycle two miles in four minutes or ten miles in any time, they can choose two Edge & Son Kebabs or a salad box from the deli.
What’s more, each time a session is completed (time or distance), participants will be automatically entered into a draw to win a summer BBQ hamper full of Edge & Son and Delifonseca goodies.
Candice added: “The girls have gone all out for the cause; not only are they cycling the huge distance, they are doing it on a tandem whilst wearing blue tutus. As an independent business, we’ve always had the mind-set that it’s incredibly important to support one another, and that’s really being reflected in the great atmosphere at Delifonseca. There is no limit to entries so the more you cycle the higher the chance you have of winning!”
