North West Entrepreneur Offers Lancashire Businesses A Boost

North West Entrepreneur Offers Lancashire Businesses A Boost

""

A Preston born and bred entrepreneur is offering local businesses an opportunity to get themselves noticed on a global scale thanks to a newly launched e-commerce network, Shopping Nerd.

Having opened its virtual doors for business in November, the website’s creator and MD, Liam Derbyshire (pictured), is offering companies in the Lancashire area a new approach to selling, with the hope of increasing profit potential for merchants by revolutionising how products are promoted online.

With a unique marketing proposal, which will see discounted merchandise, exclusive celebrity ranges, daily deals and promoted blogs combined together for the first time, Shopping Nerd aims to help local businesses across health and beauty, fashion, home and garden, electronics, sport, travel and finance get their products into the hands of a global audience of 20 million consumers.

After dedicating almost a year to the creation of the site, the 26 year-old digital expert is finally seeing his vision of becoming one of the UK’s biggest responsive e-commerce networks turn into a reality. Boasting an impressive consumer base and social media following, Shopping Nerd has also been fully optimised for desktops, mobile phones and tablets, allowing business owners easy access to their accounts from anywhere in the world and on any device.

Speaking of the website, Liam Derbyshire commented: “The launch of Shopping Nerd has been the result of years and months of hard work. I am incredibly pleased with the end result and I have high hopes that businesses will see us as an excellent addition to their marketing strategy.

“I have always been entrepreneurial, from a very young age and knew that I would be the director of my own company one day. Having worked in digital roles over the past eight years I have a huge amount of technical knowledge, which has been essential in the development of the process.

“The site has been created with small to medium sized businesses in mind and I feel very strongly about doing my bit for Lancashire based companies, whether that’s offering advice on how to get their products noticed, providing preferential advertising space or supporting brands through our consumer orientated blogs.

“There are many start-ups, in particular, who don’t receive any profit from the daily deals or offers they place on competitors’ sites; it is purely a brand awareness exercise for them. With the lowest commission rates on the market, we hope to change that ‘loss’ situation by offering genuine opportunities for them to get their name out there while turning a profit. Our free listing service also means that companies will only pay fees on deals they sell, which is a huge advantage in such a tough climate.

“I have very high global expectations for Shopping Nerd and have plans to launch the site in Ireland, Australia, Canada and USA in the not too distant future. In the short-term, however, I will be concentrating on making the UK version a success, hopefully increasing the size of the team by hiring local employees from the Lancashire area.”
