Foundation to help fund health and wellbeing initiatives for Young Mancunians

"We are delighted to be partnering with The Running Bee Foundation, and supporting the work of LiveBetterMCR which is raising the profile of health and well being in our city"
Justin Watson, Director of Young Manchester

The Running Bee Foundation has granted its very first Mo Done Community Award of £5,000 to Young Manchester to help fund health and wellbeing projects for young people across the city.

Chris Bird, Founder of The Running Bee Foundation and CEO of Sports Tours International presented Justin Watson, Director of Young Manchester, with a cheque at the #LiveBetterMCR conference at the Etihad Stadium on October 3rd.

The inaugural event welcomed delegates to a full day of talks, debates and workshops from industry leaders to discuss health and wellbeing at work. Speakers included Jeff Ross, owner of Harris & Ross Physiotherapy, Michael Finnigan, Psychological Coach & Founder of i2i and Phil Jones MBE, Managing Director of Brother UK.

All profits raised from the event were donated to The Running Bee Foundation to help fund health and wellbeing initiatives in local communities.

During the event Justin lead a panel discussion on the importance of getting young people work place ready and debated how businesses can be more proactive in helping young people succeed and thrive in the work place.

Justin commented, “The health and wellbeing of children and young people in Manchester is critical to their development, and central to Young Manchester’s role in ensuring that everyone can benefit from all that the city has to offer and access outstanding opportunities.  This donation will make a direct difference to children and young people in Manchester, supporting them to thrive.’’

‘’We are delighted to be partnering with The Running Bee Foundation, and supporting the work of #LiveBetterMCR which is raising the profile of health and wellbeing in our city – innovative and bold approaches and collaboration are vital to making Manchester the best place to grow up”

The funding from The Running Bee Foundation will directly support grass root projects and organisations in Manchester, to increase their ability to support the health and wellbeing needs of children and young people. It will be given to some of the most deprived areas of Manchester.

Through Young Manchester’s Young Ambassadors programme, young people will decide where the money is spent and how. It will be managed through a specifically established small grants scheme ensuring that the funds reach those that need it most and who can make the most impact on children and young people’s lives.

The Running Bee Foundation was founded and is supported by Sports Tours International. The Foundation will provide grants from the profits raised from all its UK events to give to community initiatives across Manchester and the North West, and help to promote health and wellbeing and the fight to tackle and reduce childhood obesity.
