My Digital Accounts has moved into new office space in Orbit Developments' Springfield House in Wilmslow with twice the space and room for growth in 2018.

Accountancy software firm gears up for growth by expanding office space

"We are already looking at other markets beyond the payroll needs of temporary workers and competing for business in wider accountancy sectors."
Katie Allen, Customer Service Manager

The company provides a cloud accounting software platform for umbrella payroll companies and accountants servicing the UK contractor market.

Bigger offices became a must for My Digital Accounts to house an expanding team, to provide better hosting and servicing of clients and adding R & D resources to improving the core product.

The company was launched in 2015 by MD John Whelan after identifying a gap in the market following the Making Tax Digital initiative launched by the UK Government.

At that time My Digital Accounts and Orbit Developments worked together to find the best location that could provide the superfast broadband capabilities the company required in order to operate efficiently and without disruption.

The majority of Orbit Developments’ Wilmslow portfolio provides access to superfast broadband connections and with the flexibility on offer at Springfield House in terms of varying suite sizes, My Digital Accounts quickly felt at home at the property.

It’s been a seamless transition to larger space according to Customer Services Manager Katie Allen.

“The move was made very easy for us and the speed of the scale up that we needed was never a problem for Orbit’s team in Wilmslow.”

“We are confident Orbit and Emerson Services Group will continue to look after us – in the same flexible and accommodating way  - as we go through the next phase of our company’s growth plans.”

The company currently has 6000 users on its platform and are looking to increase that  to 40,000 by 2022.

Katie again: “We are already looking at other markets beyond the payroll needs of temporary workers and competing for business in wider accountancy sectors.”

She puts success down to the software being designed by accountants for accountants with decades of experience in the contractor sector and providing the perfect solution for the Government’s keen interest in ‘making tax digital’.

“Umbrella payroll is turned into a process that takes minutes instead of the hours it used to,” explained Katie.

Katie commented on the decision behind choosing Wilmslow for their offices:

“Wilmslow is the perfect location for us as there are plenty of amenities for staff during breaks and it’s easy to travel to which helps widen the recruitment net.”

“It has a mainline station connecting us to Manchester and London and is also near the airport which is handy for visits to and from our in-house developers based in India.”

Leasing Director Paul McLeman said: “We have worked with John Whelan and his team on multiple occasions to find property solutions and have developed an excellent working relationship.”

“We are delighted that we could provide a flexible solution for the team again in a building where they felt at home. We wish them every success and look forward to working together in the future.”
