Firms Urged to Attend Cyber Security Event

""

Chorley-based Accountancy practice, Abrams Ashton, has teamed up with Barclays and TITAN – the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NW ROCU) - to host a cyber security seminar in Leyland next month.

The event, which takes place at Charnock Farm on Tuesday 14 June 2016 from 12.30pm – 3pm, is in response to the significant and growing threat of cyber attacks on businesses and is aimed at firms that are concerned with online security.

Experts in the field will focus on practical methods that businesses should take to minimise cyber security threats. They will also provide steps to ensure companies are adequately protected in case of an attempted breach.

According to Government statistics, around 75 per cent of all small to medium-sized businesses suffer a malicious security breach, with many coming from customers, competitors or suppliers.

Keynote speakers include Graeme Brand, business digital eagle at Barclays and Jennie Williams, cyber protect officer at TITAN NW ROCU.

Jo Ecob, director at Abrams Ashton, said: “Our clients look to us for expert advice and assistance, not just with their finances and this seminar is in response to rising cyber crime and we urge all businesses to attend.”

Jennie Williams added: “The Government recognises the real and growing danger of cyber crime and recently categorised it as a Tier One threat to UK national security – the same as terrorism.”

Graeme concluded: “Cyber criminals no longer solely attack big corporations and are turning their attention to smaller firms. The landscape is increasingly tough as attacks become more sophisticated and it’s my job to make businesses aware of the top threats and how to protect themselves.”

Reservations for the free event can be made through Abrams Ashton on 01257 273313 or email info@aachorley.co.uk.

Lunch will be provided at the event and free parking is available.
