Macclesfield-based Direct Food Ingredients has selected local charity SPACE4AUTISM as its charity of the year for 2016.

Direct Food Ingredients Appoints SPACE4AUTISM as its 2016 Charity of the Year

"We are blessed with a fabulous team of resourceful and kind-hearted individuals, who love taking up the fundraising mantle"
Steve Loake, Managing Director at Direct Food Ingredients

Based at The Space Centre, Lowe Street, SPACE4AUTISM, which was established in 2005, supports autistic children, teenagers, adults and their families with monthly parent support meetings, workshops, clubs and events.

The enterprising team at Direct Food Ingredients, which is situated on Waters Green, Macclesfield selected the charity after putting a community call out to locally based causes to nominate themselves to benefit from the firm’s fundraising efforts.

Steve Loake, Managing Director at Direct Food Ingredients comments: “We are blessed with a fabulous team of resourceful and kind-hearted individuals, who love taking up the fundraising mantle.

“We had over 20 incoming nominations with a lot of very worthy causes contacting us. However appointing SPACE4AUTISM as our chosen charity for 2016 was a unanimous decision. A number of our staff have friends and family members who are struggling with autism, and SPACE4AUTISM is run by highly committed individuals, who provide an invaluable resource to many families locally.

“The charity is incredibly stretched and we are extremely excited about the prospect of generating extra funds for them. We will be hosting our own events, as well supporting SPACE4AUTISM’s own initiatives.”

Cheryl Simpson, Charity Operations Manager, said: We feel very privileged to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by Direct Foods. We are a passionate, parent-led charity who rely heavily on fundraising to continue with our support for children and families struggling with Autism. Our children and young people deserve a chance to be independent, have a job and a family life and this will only happen if Space4Autism and other services can continue to support them. To do this we need funding and luckily Direct Food Ingredients has decided to help us. We are so very grateful to Steve and his team for choosing us and look forward to working with them over the next year.

Direct Food Ingredients is the leading food, nutritional and sports ingredients distributor, and over the past 20 years its team have taken part in a range of fundraising activities on behalf of local and national charities, and most latterly ran a major fundraising programme for the Bosley Disaster Appeal.
