BBF Limited, the Blackburn headquartered manufacturer of ambient cakes and desserts, has today announced that its CFO Munaf Yusuf has been named Northern Finance Director of the Year in the Turn Around Category 2018, in the prestigious Northern Finance Director Awards.

The Northern Finance Director Awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional talent of Finance Directors and their teams across the North of England. The Turn Around category recognises the role and achievements of a Finance Director in helping improve the profit and revenue of a business.

Commenting on the award Yusuf said: “Over the past three years BBF has gone through a period of change which has significantly improved our performance. This has culminated in the acquisition of a key division of a competitor that has enabled us to double our revenues. It has been an exciting journey – which we hope is going to see us continue to go from strength to strength. I’m really proud to have these achievements recognised and to have won this award but it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated, hard-working and amazing team that I have been lucky to lead in the Finance department.”

Yusuf joined BBF in 2015 with more than 19 years of financial manufacturing experience across several different industries.  He specialises in international finance and business turnarounds, previously working with Mezzan Holding (F&B Conglomerate), Brakes Group, Northern Foods, The Vita Group and NSG Pilkington. Since joining he has played a key role in turning BBF Limited into the thriving business it is today including the acquisition earlier this year of the ambient cake and chilled desserts facility from Greencore.  As a result of the purchase, BBF has doubled its annual turnover, which is now in the region of £150 million, and also grow the size of its workforce.

Jonathan Lill, CEO of BBF, said: “Munaf has played a critical role in leading our turnaround strategy which is now ahead of schedule. He has been instrumental in seeing BBF make visible improvements in labour efficiency and waste and cost reduction.  As a consequence, sales have grown by more than 15 per cent in the past 12 months and we are delighted that Munaf’s role in this has been recognised with this award.”
