Government Business Minister Lord Henley has officially opened health supplement and sports nutrition specialist Nutrition Group’s new multi-million pound production facility.
He was also given a tour of the fast-growing contract manufacturer’s Blackpool site, which is home to the new state-of-the-art protein bar and snack manufacturing operation.
This new industry-leading facility has the capacity to make in excess of 100 million bars and bites a year and marks the company's move into the dynamic fast-growing healthy snack market.
Richard Greathead, Chief Executive of family-owned Nutrition Group, which celebrates its 25th anniversary later this year, told the Minister how its ambitious expansion plan is set to create a number of new jobs in roles ranging from technical, management and production to warehousing.
The manufacturer already has an impressive number of contracts with high street retailers and leading global brands to produce a range of innovative protein based bars and snacks.
Richard said: “We are delighted that Lord Henley visited our operation and saw first-hand what is a significant investment for a family firm.
“As he heard, it is a statement of our confidence in our future, the future of the sector and the Fylde Coast’s economy.
“We were also able to talk the minister through the extensive opportunities it opens up for us as we mark a quarter of a century of business success.”
He added: “The new manufacturing operation gives our clients true market leading innovation, coupled with the outstanding quality that our business has built its foundations on.
“We have developed a streamlined approach to developing new products which means our customers can bring new ideas to the market quickly and easily.”
Nutrition Group is already well known as a leading global supplier to the health and nutrition market. The business and its 120-strong workforce service the best known brands in the industry.
It specialises in product formulation, tablet and capsule manufacturing, along with liquid filling. The Nutrition Group operation currently produces two billion tablets and 500 million capsules a year.
Nutrition Group has the Investors in People accreditation. It manufactures using Good Manufacturing Practice and is licensed by the MHRA (Medicines and healthcare Products Regulatory Agency). It is also approved by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and operates to ISO 9001:2015.
