The CHil scheme is dedicated to providing a full range of heating measures to eligible households across Lancashire who qualify for financial support towards new, energy efficient boiler replacements, solar panels, storage heaters and insulation to keep them cosy in their homes.
The scheme has amassed a total funding for Lancashire of £6 million, which has contributed to the bringing affordable warmth to thousands of vulnerable residents across the county who are living in arctic conditions, including the elderly, disabled and families.
Last month CHil helped 91-year-old Mrs Sutcliffe, from Preston, who had suffered from a temperamental boiler for many years when on Christmas Day it finally broke down plunging her into a chilly home and forcing her to wash the dishes with water heated from the kettle.
Mrs Sutcliffe contacted CHil and within the next couple of days they had turned up and fitted a replacement boiler: “It was so quick. I thought they were wonderful. The fitter came and looked at the other boiler, which was breaking down all the time, and within a few days, I had my new boiler. I couldn’t believe it.”
Backing the scheme is Dr Arif Rajpura, Director of Public Health at Blackpool Council, who explains how the scheme has helped Lancashire residents get the advice they need: “What CHiL does is makes it simple.
