The conveniently located optical and audiology centre is based within Sainsbury’s supermarket on Rice Lane in Walton and brings new health services to local people.

The store celebrated with balloons, cake and discounts and to top it off, invited a choir of children from Northcote Primary School to perform songs, much to the enjoyment of the local community.

Employing nine local people with specialist skills in optics and audiology mainly gained at Specsavers, the new team at the Rice Lane based store also boasts over 100 years of collective experience.

Retail director, Paul Stanway, says: ‘It’s fantastic to bring additional services to the area by opening a store here at Sainsbury’s.

Half of the team we have here have been with Specsavers for over ten years, making them a highly experienced team, so we are all excited about working together and offering an industry leading, dedicated service to the area.’

The store is Specsavers’ site to open in the UK, and the 32nd opening of a Specsavers store within Sainsbury’s stores in the UK as their national partnership continues to flourish.

The store brings industry leading optical and audiology technology to the area with all of the latest technology in store, including its unique ‘iHarmony’ model, which ensures customers have a seamless journey in store.

Boasting three test rooms for audiology and optical care, the store also has its own hearing booth to provide detailed hearing tests, with private and NHS service available.

The store is also one of just a handful of opticians in the region offering OCT, eye scanning technology usually only found in hospitals and that can detect eye diseases years earlier.

Also available will be contact lenses fittings and checks, eye health appointments and treatments and screening for a number of eye conditions.

Optical director, Lyndsey McLoughlin, says: ‘It’s great to be able to be located within Sainsbury’s, which is added convenience for customers.

It means more local people have convenient access to essential eye and hearing tests and get any minor sight or hearing issues treated quickly.’

The new store stocks the recently launched frames by parisian designer Kenzo, on sale for a limited time - available this summer only (image attached).
