Manchester law firm, Glaisyers, has handled the sale of Centec International (Centec) to BIP Organics, a provider of hazardous waste solutions to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.  Centec, a 28-year old Cheshire business has been successfully sold which secures the future of the business and its staff of 18.  The amalgamation of the two businesses creates the largest solvent recycling facility in Europe.

The Middlewich based Centec International, provides flammable solvent recovery services and bespoke chemical manufacture and was founded by John Blundell in 1991.

“I’m delighted to be handing over the ownership of the company to such a respected business. My late husband and I started the business from scratch over 28 years ago and I’m thrilled that all the work that has gone into building the organisation is now being entrusted to BIP Organics, who I’m confident will take the company to the next level of growth,” commented Jean Blundell, former owner and co-founder of Centec.

Manchester city centre law firm Glaisyers Solicitors LLP managed the sale for Centec, turning it round in a very tight timeframe to ensure successful completion.

Akbar Ali, Head of Corporate at Glaisyers, responsible for the deal commented: “Centec and the Blundell family are longstanding and important business clients to the firm. Buying or selling a company is a complex process and particularly daunting the first time round; our team has excellent credentials in the SME sector and it’s immensely rewarding to provide them with a quality driven service. This deal’s successful completion is a testament to the strong commerciality, pragmatism and commitment of those involved and we’re delighted it was a positive outcome for all concerned.”

BIP Organics was founded in 2006 and is a rapidly growing multi-award winning business.  Its core strengths are the recovery and recycling of chemical waste.  Mike Bennett is the Chief Executive Officer of BIP Organics and commented: “This acquisition is a very exciting milestone for our business and its growth.  Centec and BIP Organics are complementary businesses which are co-located so this was a logical expansion for our business. We’re extremely pleased with the speed and professionalism with which this deal was handled given the tight turnaround and are looking forward to the next stage of growth for our business.”

The Blundell family was represented by Akbar Ali and Malcolm Abel, Legal Director at Glaisyers, together with Mike Donnan, Chartered Accountant, specialising in taxation.

BIP Organic was represented by Lee Warburton, Partner at Voisey & Co and Tom Ellis, Managing Partner at Ai Law.
