BLJ Solicitors Welcomes Price Transparency In Legal Sector

"This industry-wide change is very much welcomed by the team at BLJ Solicitors, especially as price transparency is a policy that we have been operating since 2016 "
Managing Partner Mike Leeman

Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors is championing price transparency within regulated law firms in the UK following recent industry changes.

The North West legal firm is backing the introduction of criteria which requires all regulated law firms to proactively publish pricing information for services, along with timescales for quoted services and the experience of the staff that work in these areas.

Nationwide changes follow research conducted by Competition and Markets Authority in December 2016 to suggest a lack of transparency in the sector when it comes to price, quality and service, whilst BLJ Solicitors has offered instant quoting prior to this.

Managing Partner at BLJ Solicitors Mike Leeman said: “This industry-wide change is very much welcomed by the team at BLJ Solicitors, especially as price transparency is a policy that we have been operating since 2016 regarding our conveyancing services. We’ve always considered ourselves to be a progressive firm and our revolutionary approach to customer service has placed us ahead within the sector.

“Our ethos is that whilst our experience speaks for itself, our defining factor is our dedication to customer care, providing each client with a bespoke service, treating their issues as our own. Within the legal industry, we believe that clients don’t always fully understand whether the services they are receiving are good value for money which is an issue that we have been tackling for years in a bid to eliminate this from not just our own firm but within the entire sector.”

Established in 1821, BLJ Solicitors operates from a trio of locations in Liverpool, Runcorn and Warrington working across the region on criminal law, conveyancing, wills, probate and personal injury to name a few.

Mike added: “Whilst we are embracing this change, the new rules have been met with some criticism from providers that feel it is an attack on their principals. However, our view is that the customer comes first and we do believe that this new approach will lead to a better relationship between solicitors and their clients and help to dispel the stigma around the financial value of legal services.

“As we enter a new era of business, client’s expectations have changed and they rightly demand a more efficient approach that results in an all-round better service. Although this is something that we have had in place for years, it is exciting to see advancements within the industry to place legal firms firmly in the modern age.”
