Leading hotel reaches finals of the Oscars of hospitality world

"The Cateys have become a byword for quality, class and achievement, the awards that everybody wants to win. "
Jonathan Kaye

One of Cumbria’s leading tourist businesses, the Cedar Manor Hotel and Restaurant, was runner-up at the Oscars of the hospitality world.

The award-winning Windermere hotel was pipped for the Independent Hotel of the Year title at the Cateys – the Caterer and Hotelkeeper awards - at a grand award ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House hotel.

In their first appearance at the Cateys, Cedar Manor’s Jonathan and Caroline Kaye saw the award go to Longueville Manor at St Saviour on the island of Jersey.

The popular Lake District hoteliers are no strangers to awards, currently holding the title of best small hotel, national and international, from Considerate Hoteliers. They are former winners of Cumbria Tourism’s top small hotel title, and reached the finals of the Visit England awards last year. They also have a host of awards for design, style, sustainability and customer service.

Inaugurated in 1984, the Cateys highlight the hospitality industry’s highest flyers, strongest performers and hottest brands. “We were thrilled to be the first Lakes hotel to reach the finals,” said Jonathan Kaye. “The Cateys have become a byword for quality, class and achievement, the awards that everybody wants to win. The industry refers to them as its Oscars Night.”

Cedar Manor is a luxury 10-bed country-house-meets-boutique hotel close to England’s biggest lake. It’s a popular choice with honeymooners, but also with older couples enjoying quality time together after years of family holidays. Most popular is the detached, two-storey Coach House Suite with its own dining room.

The restaurant, which emphasises local produce in a modern British menu, is open to non-residents. More details from http://www.cedarmanor.co.uk
