Leisure contractor Medlock FRB has completed a £2m project to upgrade a north west golf resort and spa.

The scheme at Formby Hall near Southport involved:

· Creating 14 new luxury hotel bedrooms and suites in a vacant loft area;

· A redesign and refurbishment of The Fairway Grill restaurant and bar, including a new sun terrace and patio;

· An extension and upgrade to the indoor pool;

· Improvements to the resort’s spa and treatment rooms, including the poolside Himalayan salt sauna, laconium cabin, steam room and showers.

Alongside the boutique hotel, spa, bar and dining facilities, Formby Hall has an 18-hole championship golf course, a nine-hole course, a PGA golf academy and a driving range. Set in 200 acres of parkland, the four-star destination is also a popular wedding venue.

Dave Wheeler, Medlock’s commercial director, said: “These improvements were carried out in a live trading environment in 17 weeks with every effort taken to minimise disruption to the leisure and business guests at Formby Hall.”

Medlock carried out the contract as part of a wider upgrade to Formby Hall undertaken by the resort’s owner, CS Hotels.

The other works included refurbishments to the existing 62 bedrooms and the reception area, and the creation of a new gin bar.

Formby Hall’s general manager Andrew Pyle said: “We are delighted with the new look and new facilities at Formby Hall and the improvements have been extremely well received by our customers. The response has been fantastic.”
