Sykes Holiday Cottages has brought home gold at the prestigious British Travel Awards for the sixth year in a row.

Sykes Holiday Cottages Maintains Unbeaten Record at Travel Awards

"The British Travel Awards are the ones that really matter to us, as winners are decided by the most important people our customers."

The Chester-based holiday rental agency continued its unbroken record in the ‘Best Large UK Holiday Cottage Booking Company’ category, after receiving the most votes from the travelling public.

Sykes picked up the trophy at an Around the World in 80 Days-themed awards ceremony in London, attended by nearly a thousand representatives from across the industry.

The British Travel Awards are the only travel industry accolade voted for exclusively by holidaymakers, and this year over 750,000 votes were cast.

Just this week, Sykes was also named as a ‘One to Watch’ in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 league table, which ranks Britain’s fastest-growing private companies over the last three years.

This also coincides with the business’ two star accreditation in the Sunday Times’ Best Companies guide, based on staff feedback on wellbeing, personal growth, culture and leadership.

Sykes’ CEO, Graham Donoghue, said: “The British Travel Awards are the ones that really matter to us, as winners are decided by the most important people – our customers.

“This unbroken record is testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees and holiday home owners across the country.

“We’ve had a stellar few years and the growth we’ve seen shows no signs of slowing, given the increasingly buoyant staycation sector.”

British Travel Awards’ chief executive, Lorraine Barnes Burton, added: “Sykes is to be congratulated on winning the Best Large UK Holiday Cottage Booking Company.

“The British Travel Awards are the only travel industry accolade voted for exclusively by the consumer and the awards serve to recognise all that is great about travel, as experienced by the travelling public. To win a British Travel Award is a true achievement.”

Sykes employs 475 people at its One City Place head office, having moved there last summer to support its ambitious plans for growth.

The company hosts 1.3 million travellers a year at over 13,500 properties across the UK and Ireland.
