Social media and GDPR training for businesses thanks to EU funding

As the EU deadline for the new GDPR rules approaches, many local small businesses may be concerned about their digital and social media strategies.

Social media and GDPR training for businesses thanks to EU funding

"We use the funding to connect businesses with experts from all industries, depending upon their needs, but some of the most common questions we get are around digital footprints and social media"

In response, Cheshire and Warrington Business Growth Programme is providing two free courses in March – fully funded by the ERDF funding and further and higher education delivery partners.

The workshops, with publisher, author and entrepreneur Neil Lewis, will be held at Warrington & Vale Royal College and will provide training on Advanced Social Media, as well as GDPR and Cybersafety.

Attendees can learn how to create an effective, legal social media campaign in the first workshop, while the second session will guide small businesses through GDPR compliance and advise on cybersecurity.

Held on the 20th and 23rd March respectively, the courses are open to any local pre-start, start-up or SME located within the Cheshire and Warrington area which has registered. They are being provided by the Cheshire and Warrington Business Growth Programme, which is a consortium of local Universities and Colleges that are working and investing together to help develop local entrepreneurs and businesses to grow; create and sustain employment as well as develop new products, processes and services, boosted by £2.7m of European Regional Development Funding.

Says Sarah Lee of Warrington & Vale Royal College: “We use the funding to connect businesses with experts from all industries, depending upon their needs, but some of the most common questions we get are around digital footprints and social media, so we are delighted to provide these workshops to guide small business owners through the muddy waters.”

Adds Neil: “The social media workshop will help each delegate leave with a campaign plan designed to deliver success, while the GDPR and Cyber Security workshop will help business owners understand and then apply the rules to their organisations, so that they can take advantage of a stronger brand and healthier business."
