New employee advocacy training is set to help businesses grow in the North West

"The main benefits of employee advocacy are the massive increase in social reach for the company to an untapped client base and also legitimacy. "
Graham Campbell

A NEW social media concept is being pioneered in the North West to show businesses how to make the most of their biggest marketing assets.

Graham Campbell from Moose Media Management is set to train organisations in employee advocacy – the first training of its kind in the UK – to empower staff to use their social media platforms to promote the company they work for.

The 41-year-old from Great Harwood, Lancashire, set up Moose Media Management in September, 2015, to turn his love of social media into his business.

He said: “Most businesses are failing to make the most of their biggest marketing asset – their staff – and I truly believe in the power of employees. They are the best advocates for businesses. It is something that is not being done to its full potential in this country but has been a huge success in the USA.

“The main benefits of employee advocacy are the massive increase in social reach for the company to an untapped client base and also legitimacy. If someone who works at the company tells you it is good you are more likely to trust them than if it just comes from a faceless business social media account. People power is not to be underestimated.”

Ninety-two percent of consumers around the world say they trust earned media, such as word-of-mouth or recommendations from friends and family, above all other forms of advertising, according to a new study from Nielsen, a global provider of information and insights into what consumers watch and buy.

Graham, who is also a trustee of Lancashire charity, Advocacy Focus, added: “The training shows organisations how to get the best out of employee advocacy efficiently and creatively. It is relaxed, fun and very interactive to help overcome employer fears about social media, and show people how it can work for their business. The course gives attendees the right tools and know how to implement employee advocacy policy to how to engage employees, explore software solutions and manage risk.

“People trust what their friends and family recommend, so employees receive double the click through rate than when the same piece of content is shared through the company on social media, so it makes complete sense to go with it and make staff brand ambassadors. The world is only going to get more social and companies that embrace it will succeed the most.”

Moose Media Management’s employee advocacy training is the first CPD accredited training of its kind in the UK and the next session will be held in Manchester on Thursday, May 26, from 8.30am until 12.30pm at Ziferblat, 23, Edge Street, Northern Quarter.
