Optimum Pay has brought its operations under one roof at Crewe Business Park, moving its entire team into 3000 sq ft on the first floor of Orbit Developments Gawsworth House.

The business was set-up 18 months ago to provide payroll, financing and accountancy services for companies that work with contract and temporary workers and ensure their clients are compliant and meet legal obligations.

Previously based in Scotland, London and Essex, Optimum Pay aims to create 20 additional jobs at its new HQ.

Carl Boulton, founder of Optimum Pay said: “We have a number of new contracts in the pipeline and the expansion means we can keep on progressing. Bringing everyone together will help us to work even more efficiently, making key decisions instantly.”

The company – which turned over £19 million last year – has developed strong relationships within the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and with recruitment agencies, offering contractors peace of mind in knowing they and their temporary workers are up-to-date with their tax affairs.

Mr Boulton added: “Instead of coming just from a payroll point of view, or just from an accountancy point of view, we operate from our clients’ point of view. We ensure they are 100 % compliant and don’t shy away from telling the truth.

“Some of our clients have £1 billion turnovers and we are there to make the payroll and accountancy side easier to manage and easier to understand. People work hard to receive their wages every week or month – and it’s down to us to ensure they are paid correctly and on time.”

Paul McLeman, Leasing Director at Orbit Developments said it was great news for Crewe. “Optimum Pay is an ambitious business and we are delighted to be able to provide the right accommodation for them to allow them to embark on the next stage of their growth journey. We wish them well.”

Orbit reported that the arrival of Optimum, just a few months after previous tenants vacated the space, meant that the whole building was fully let again. “It’s an indicator of growing business confidence in the town,” Paul added.

Paul Coleman, chief executive of the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, commented: “It’s no surprise that a number of companies choose to locate in Crewe as it’s got tremendous transport links and access to a good workforce.  The town’s reputation is growing, and with the high speed rail link coming to the area, it is making it an easy decision for companies to locate here now.”
