First residents move into Strand Plaza as phase one of development is fulfilled

First phase of luxury Liverpool waterfront apartments complete

Primesite Developments have announced the completion of phase one of Strand Plaza, a luxury residential development on Liverpool’s waterfront.

The office-to-residential conversion is believed to be the last property in development on The Strand. The city-centre development is situated on Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage waterfront, across from the famous Three Graces landmarks: the Liver Building, the Port of Liverpool Building and the Cunard Building.

The first eight storeys of Strand Plaza are now finished, with the first residents now occupying the building. This amounts to 123 completed apartments, out of the total 135 planned. The building comprises of a mixture of luxury studios and one and two-bedroom apartments.

The next phase of the development will be the completion of the two top storeys: a ninth storey that replaced the building’s previous existing concrete parapet, and a tenth, lightweight storey that will house two luxury penthouses, dubbed “super-apartments”, each leading to its own private outdoor terrace, with spectacular views of Liverpool.

Primesite Developments purchased the disused former Ministry of Defence building in January 2017, beginning preparatory work immediately, and acquiring planning permission a year later for the two extra storeys and a further upper ground floor extension. The planning and lead design architect on the project is Liverpool-based architecture firm Brock Carmichael.

Kerry Tomlinson, Director at Primesite Developments, said: “To see Strand Plaza, once a decrepit and abandoned shell of a building, transformed into our vision of a top-quality residential scheme is fantastic. We are incredibly grateful to our funders Amicus, who have given us consistent support throughout the entire process. We would also like to thank our clients, for their continued backing and sharing our vision to bring Strand Plaza to life. Developing a site in such an iconic location is not without its challenges, on top of the various hurdles that come with property projects, so we are especially proud to welcome the first residents to Strand Plaza.”

He adds: “Throughout this process, we aimed to create the highest quality accommodation in Liverpool, from the wider corridors and luxury furnishings to the unparalleled views of the Three Graces. This top-quality, exclusive hotel feel is reflected in the penthouse super-apartments with outstanding terraces, through to the studios. We wanted to bring something of real value to our local area. We are now working at pace towards the completion of the next, final phase of Strand Plaza.”

The majority of apartments are already sold ahead of completion, and Strand Plaza residents will be a mixture of owner-occupiers and renters. Primesite plan to keep a limited number on as to-let properties.

Strand Plaza is in close proximity to many of the city’s amenities and attractions, including Liverpool One (0.2 miles) Albert Dock (0.3 miles), Baltic Triangle (0.4 miles) as well as easily accessible transport links in and out of the City Centre.
