A WOMAN struck down with pneumonia when her boiler malfunctioned has told of her joy after a local firm came to her rescue in her hour of need.
Hayley Vaughan, 33, struggled for months with a temperamental central heating system last year.
Cash-strapped Hayley, a Senior Carer who lives on her own in Ford, Bootle, even contracted pneumonia in November - a condition she says stemmed from her inability to heat her home properly.
But now Hayley says she feels like she’s ‘won the lottery’ after generous Knowsley boiler installation experts STL Heating & Energy heard of her plight and fitted her with a free combination state of the art boiler worth over £2,000.
And she says being warm and cosy has enabled her to recover fully from her medical scare.
She said: “I’d been struggling with my boiler for some time.
“Despite the fact that I was paying £20-a-month for cover, I was still getting charged for replacement items.
“It got to the point where it just wasn’t possible for me to keep repairing it and so I ended up simply going without heating.
“It’s this that I feel contributed to me developing pneumonia.
“But what the guys at STL Heating & Energy have done for me is to enable me to get my home warm again, and also get well again, which is just amazing.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got the call. It was something of a life changing moment and I’d to thank them for all their help.”
