Your Housing Group's Development Team has successfully completed the first of six new retirement living developments all due for completion by March 2015
Smithy Croft, Your Housing Group’s newest retirement living development opened its doors to the public last week. The new 55 apartment Extra Care development on Finney Lane will offer people aged over 55 to live an active life independently for longer, in a safe and secure development.
Designed with the individual in mind, the support team will provide help and support that is flexible to meet their needs, providing a safe and secure environment and most importantly, giving residents peace of mind.
The £7.5m development will welcome its first residents in the coming weeks with Mr and Mrs Bonsall, from Heald Green, being amongst the first to move in. The local couple have successfully secured an apartment within Smithy Croft.
Mr Bonsall commented “This is wonderful to be able to see our apartment is really reassuring, and I must say very impressive – I’m really looking forward to using the communal facilities – the bistro is going to be fantastic and be a lovely place to invite our family and friends”
Several of the developments facilities are also on offer to non-residents in Heald Green, which include a bistro, hair and beauty salon, communal lounge, and an activity room.
Smithy Croft sits on the site of the former Mallard Court sheltered housing scheme which was decommissioned five years ago, with several residents being relocated to other accommodation until their new home was complete. The six residents will return to Smithy Croft to live in their new state-of-the-art apartments in the coming weeks.
One resident commented “I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time and I’m so pleased to be able to see my new home – it’s definitely changed from what Mallard Court used to look like. The look and feel is completely different; I can’t wait to move back”
