Health & wellness ambassadors The Scissor Psychologist are supporting the Samaritans and hoping to raise £1000 after organising a charity fundraising day this Sunday 17th November.
The acclaimed hairdressing salon located in the beautiful village of Aldford, Cheshire will feature hairstylist Mel Hill bravely shaving off all of her hair at 3pm to help raise funds!
Mel said: "Yes, i'll be shaving all my hair off to raise awareness for mental health, which is very close to my heart. I have shaved my head before when I was 14 during work experience in a salon and thought it would look awesome...i was rebellious at the time!
The Chester Samaritans fundraising day is from 11am to 4pm with The Scissor Pyschologist welcoming clients and guests in support who can experience head massages in return for a donation, plus buy goody bags containing mini treats and spot prizes.
Mel added: "The Samaritans are there 24/7. No pressure, no judgment and you can just let it all out. You don’t have to face it alone and it’s really ok, not to be ok. I don’t think people are open about mental health and unfortunately it’s more common in men. They think they shouldn’t feel like they do."
The Scissor Psychologist founder and owner Emma Mulvihill said: "It's going to be a special Sunday. We're offering blow dries for just £20 and men's cuts for £15 with £5 of each going to the Chester Samaritans. We also want to thank all of those who have supported the cause so far, it means the world to us and every penny really does count."
The salon appointment hotline to book for Sunday is 07889 249 349.
"The Samaritans are there 247. No pressure, no judgment and you can just let it all out. You don't have to face it alone and it'1s really ok, not to be ok."
