New owner sought for popular Wilmslow train station sandwich bar

"Wilmslow is well known for being one of the wealthiest commuter towns in the North West but it is also bustling commercial centre. I cant think of a better place for a high-quality sandwich bar."
Eve Pawsey

The owners of a popular sandwich bar located at the entrance to Wilmslow train station have put the business on the market. Jayne Tarrant and Joanna Spencer have instructed Blacks Business Brokers to find a new owner for Hunger Trains on Station Road with an asking price of £55,000 to take over the lease plus monthly rent of £600.

Hunger Trains operates from premises opening onto the main short stay car park at Wilmslow Station. It serves hot and cold sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads and fresh tea and coffee to a clientele of office workers, commuters and long-distance travellers from the affluent Cheshire town.

In its most recent financial year Hunger Trains, which opens for breakfast and lunch Mondays to Fridays, turned over £84,000. According to Ms Tarrant there is scope for a new owner to increase revenue by introducing a delivery service catering to the many offices located nearby.

She said, “It’s a great first shop for somebody who wants to be their own boss. My advice to any new owner would be to focus any new ideas on office workers, and the lunchtime market, because that’s where the majority of our revenue comes from.”

The business was established in 2016, in premises that had previously housed another sandwich bar. The owners, who are both from Wythenshawe, now wish to move on following a change in personal circumstances.

The premises are fully equipped with a refrigerated display unit, pie warmer, jacket potato oven, coffee machine, large fridge freezer and a full range of cooking equipment including hob, oven, griddle, grill and two microwaves. Hunger Trains has a five-star food hygiene rating.

Eve Pawsey, marketing facilitator at Blacks Business Brokers, said, “This is a fantastically located business, facing outwards from the station toward nearby offices and the town’s leisure centre. Wilmslow Station itself sees significant passenger traffic, not just into Manchester but also to London and Liverpool on the West Coast Mainline.

“Wilmslow is well known for being one of the wealthiest commuter towns in the North West but, as residents know, it is also bustling commercial centre in its own right. I can’t think of a better place for a high-quality sandwich bar.”

All enquiries should be directed to Blacks Business Brokers on 0333 370 0000, quoting reference 6565.
