Tangerine Celebrates BIBA Manufacturer of the Year Award

Tangerine Celebrates BIBA Manufacturer of the Year Award

""

Lytham-based manufacturer of animal care products, Tangerine Holdings, has been named as ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ in this year’s BIBAs (Be Inspired Business Awards), Lancashire’s most prestigious business awards.

The company behind leading brands including VetPlus, Agri-Lloyd, Farm Sense and Carr & Day & Martin, has won the accolade at its first attempt.

Explains Chairman of Tangerine Holdings, David Haythornthwaite: “We manufacture 85% of the products we sell at our state-of-the-art Lytham GMP manufacturing facility and are wholly committed to UK manufacturing. We currently export products to 46 countries around the world and have our own fully owned subsidiaries in Ireland, Spain and Germany. Our exports continue to grow and now account for 42 per cent of our sales.

“We have invested more than £3,000,000 over the past eight years and this helps to support, amongst other things, the creation of local jobs for local people. We believe we are at the forefront of Lancashire’s manufacturing and export economy which benefits both the local supply chain and local residents.”

Tangerine Holdings beat stiff competition from an impressive array of Lancashire-based manufacturers to win the BIBA Manufacturer of the Year Award, which was presented at a gala dinner at the Blackpool Tower Circus and Blackpool Tower Ballroom.  The company was applauded for its success in nurturing a progressive and inclusive working culture, with a graduate training programme, commendation on the Sunday Times’ ‘Best Companies to Work For – One to Watch’ list and active engagement in local charities and communities.

David continues: “People make companies! Anyone can get a product to market but to build a truly great business you need to invest in people.

“That’s why we are following the Best Companies Programme and why we ensure that all our employees receive the training they need to develop their careers and add value to the company.”

Tangerine Holdings was also recognised for its recent achievements in bringing new, ground breaking products including Synoquin EFA and a revolutionary new spray design Equimist to market.

David continues: “Last year our export sales were up by 22 per cent and we needed to respond to this increased demand for our products.  With a range of 240 primary products and 35 variations in market-specific language, that’s no easy task! However, by implementing a bespoke manufacturing planning system, introducing new working practices and continuing to invest in new equipment we were able to rise to the challenge and create new jobs along the way.”
