Hemming & Wills celebrates new sustainable ranges and Studio Henderson collaboration

"Our aims are to team up with more designers, further expand our product range, champion British products and focus on being a business that is not all about profit, but about being ethical."
Chris Woolfenden

Manchester retailer Hemming & Wills is celebrating its first few months of trading by expanding its product ranges and announcing a new collaboration with interior designer Studio Henderson.

The independent online furnishings and homewares company was launched by former IT consultant Chris Woolfenden at the end of 2019, to offer consumers and designers ethical and sustainable products in contemporary and aspirational styles.

Having completely exceeded all sales targets for the Christmas and new year period, Chris is delighted to be expanding his reclaimed furniture and lighting ranges and will now be working with with Studio Henderson to supply lighting for developments across the North West.

The assisted living interior design specialists have built up a strong reputation for contemporary, comfortable and functional living environments, with the focus on high quality and sustainable living - hence the collaboration with Hemming & Wills, which will see the two companies work on two extra care developments in Liverpool and Manchester, with other projects in the pipeline throughout 2020.

Cliona Henderson of Studio Henderson adds; “Hemming & Wills shares many of the same goals as us - we strive to make practical, functional, yet stunning spaces for our clients, specialising in community care and dementia care design. We take a really creative approach to building and adapting interior environments and only select optimum brands to join us in our projects.”

Says Chris: “It was a real leap, to leave the world of IT and set up Hemming & Wills, but having earlier experience in retail - I was one of Selfridges’ youngest ever managers at 21 - I knew the challenges ahead.

"A lot of time was spent in the product sourcing and planning as we are really passionate about the importance of a happy home and sustainable living. Bestsellers so far are our reclaimed furniture range and exclusive Moom Lighting ranges made from re-used metal spinning moulds and this is the area we are expanding. Consumers care about the sourcing of their purchases and we are here to ensure that they can make stylish, sustainable and affordable choices, from reclaimed wooden furniture to plastic free and re-usable homewares.

“We’re delighted to be working with Studio Henderson. Our aims are to team up with more designers, further expand our product range, champion British products and focus on being a business that is not all about profit, but about being ethical, with a real focus on charity and social causes.”

As part of its commitment Hemming & Wills donates 1% of its turnover to 1% for the Planet
